Got a loop that's technically fine but a bit lifeless? Granular effects can fix that, but most of them ask you to learn a lot of jargon first.
Baby Audio's HyperWarp aims to cut through that. It's a time-bending granular effect where you draw what you want to happen, and it's out now.
Let's dive into what makes it tick.
Draw the Chaos: A Graph That Bends Time
At the centre is a graph-based sequencer. You draw speed shifts, stutter steps and direction changes, and HyperWarp reshapes the incoming audio to match. Baby Audio says no prior granular knowledge is needed. That makes it a quick way to turn a plain drum loop, vocal or synth line into something rhythmic and unpredictable.
Seven Flavours of Warp
Under the hood, your input is broken into micro-sampled grains and reassembled with the sonic imprint of one of seven effect profiles: Clean Warp, Flange Warp, Degrade Warp, Filter Spam, Harmo-Nicer, Fauxcoder and Lo-Fizzly. Between them you get everything from clean time and pitch manipulation to lo-fi crunch, filtered motion and dense harmonics.
Inspiration on Demand
Stuck? There are presets, and one click generates a random patch. With eight main controls plus the sequencer, you can tweak a result into place without diving through menus.
