VSL Synchron Concert D-274 (Standard Library)

Art in Sound and Form

The Steinway & Sons flagship concert grand has remained largely unchanged since its development in the late 19th century, standing the test of time with its rich, massive, and ambient sound. Whether competing with orchestras or performing solo, the D-274 effortlessly commands attention with its tremendous sonic power and volume, thanks to its nearly two-square-meter (21.5 sq.ft.) soundboard. Esteemed artists across generations have gravitated towards the Steinway D, from Sergei Rachmaninoff, Vladimir Horowitz, Arthur Rubinstein, and Glenn Gould, to today’s leading pianists like Emanuel Ax, Hélène Grimaud, and Lang Lang. Captured in the Hollywood-proven signature ambiance of Vienna Synchron Stage, it brings the legendary Steinway sound and versatility right into the heart of your studio.

An estimated 90% of all concert grands on the world’s stages are Steinway D-274 models. Our very own D-274 is a “Hamburg Model” and was handpicked from eight Steinway D models by Stefan Mendl, founding member and pianist of the Vienna Piano Trio. In a city rich with glorious instruments, it is ranked among the best sounding grand pianos in Vienna, and has been endorsed by all artists who have had the opportunity to play it. The instrument enjoys a permanent, climate-controlled residency at Vienna Synchron Stage, which is characterized by its particularly warm, intense, and natural ambience.
