Few instruments carry the cultural weight of the Prophet~5. Released by Sequential Circuits in 1978, Dave Smith’s five-voice analogue synthesizer brought polyphony, patch memory and hands-on control together in a way that reshaped how musicians wrote, recorded and performed with synthesis.

Its status has only grown with time. The Prophet~5 remains a benchmark for analogue tone, musical immediacy and instrument design: a synthesizer whose reputation extends far beyond its original era. From Genesis to Radiohead, Madonna to Aphex Twin, the Prophet~5 sound has spanned genres and decades for its versatile and powerful sound.

The Official Prophet~5

For the first-ever official Prophet~5 plugin, Sequential has collaborated with GForce Software to honour the sound, feel and character of the original instrument in software. It brings together Sequential’s place in the history of analogue synthesis with GForce’s long-standing experience in creating expressive, authentic virtual instruments.

Across the Rev1, Rev2, and Rev3 character models, Prophet~5 delivers the tone, response, and musicality that made the original instrument so sought-after, from the warmth of the SSM designs to the punch and presence of the Curtis filter.

All of the original hardware functionality has been included, giving you access to the tones, behaviours and performance character that made the Prophet~5 a fixture on some of the greatest recordings of all time.

The original 38 factory presets from 1978 are included, alongside an extensive, professionally designed modern library of over 420 patches.

Original Spirit, New Expression

While staying true to the spirit of the original, Prophet~5 introduces powerful modern enhancements giving producers and sound designers new ways to shape movement, expression and performance.

At the heart of the expanded instrument is GForce’s newly redesigned X-Modifiers section. Almost every parameter has its own dedicated envelope and LFO, allowing sounds to move and evolve while preserving the immediacy and tone of the original hardware.

Prophet~5 also includes two independent layers with Layer, Split and Alternate modes for combining sounds, dividing them across the keyboard or alternating between them as you play. With an individual arpeggiator and chord mode for each layer you can easily create stacked textures, keyboard splits and rhythmic contrast within a single instance.

For further control, comprehensive MIDI CC mapping and full MPE compatibility give compatible controllers access to detailed pitch, pressure and timbral expression.

To complete the experience, Prophet~5 includes a suite of premium studio effects, including chorus, phaser, multimode filtering, tremolo, compression, stereo delay and reverb, with extensive modulation possibilities throughout.

Installation

Your purchase includes a product key, delivered by email. Register and install it as follows:

1. Go to gforcesoftware.com and click the account icon. Log in, or select Signup to create an account.
2. In My account, click Register a Product.
3. Select the product from the Product Name dropdown and enter the product key you received from Koala Audio.
4. Check the product shown matches your purchase, then click Register.
5. The instrument is now registered to your account. The code to unlock it is available with the downloads on the My Instruments page, so you no longer need the code from your purchase email.
6. On the My Instruments page, download the GForce Installer for Mac or PC. It manages every GForce instrument and sound in one place.
7. Open the GForce Installer and log in with the same account.
8. Under All Products, find the instrument and click Install. Installed instruments show their version and update from the same screen.
