Fazioli pianos are crafted with heartfelt passion for music and musicians, extraordinary craftsmanship, advanced technological innovation, and a careful selection of materials. While the impressive dimensions of the F308—measuring a remarkable 308 cm (10 ft 2 in)—certainly draw attention, it’s the features beneath the surface that truly set it apart. The instrument owes its powerful sound and exceptional harmonic clarity to the extended string length in the bass and middle registers, as well as a range of ingenious innovations that have earned the Italian piano maker widespread acclaim. At its core, the soundboard is sourced from the same spruce forest in northern Italy’s Val di Fiemme, where Antonio Stradivari once selected wood for his legendary violins.

The F308 at Synchron Stage Vienna is equipped with a unique fourth pedal, invented by Fazioli, located to the left of the three traditional pedals. This pedal lowers the keyboard and brings the hammers closer to the strings, reducing the volume of sound without altering its timbre, allowing the same overtones and resonances to shine through with a soft yet clear and transparent quality. This innovation also facilitates smooth glissandos, rapid passages, and legatos. Furthermore, by combining the una corda pedal with the fourth pedal, pianists can expand the palette of soft tonal colors that the F308 offers.

To capture the full subtleties of the instrument, our engineers developed a highly precise motion-control system featuring a solenoid-driven “robot finger” that operates with noise-free precision. The micro-controller moves the finger with superhuman accuracy, enabling flexible down-stroke and release movements, which adjust to the preceding note length and varying release speeds. Having refined our recording and editing techniques in tandem with software development, we believe the Synchron Fazioli F308 sets a new standard in piano sampling. With over 360,000 samples, this software instrument delivers breathtaking authenticity.

Our engineers recorded the rich resonances of the Fazioli F308 using an array of phase-aligned microphones. The 11 mic positions are individually available in the mixer section of the Synchron Piano Player, pre-configured with Mixer Presets like Concert, Intimate, Player, Pop, Ambience, and more. As with all Synchron Libraries, you can mix your piano sound in stereo, 5.1 surround, or even Dolby Atmos and 9.1 Auro 3D, or any other immersive audio format. Of course, the mixer presets serve as excellent starting points for your own creations, allowing you to easily adjust them to suit your preferences or the specific acoustic needs of your production.
