Welcome to the Artiphon Orba Basics course. We’ll be diving into all things Orba to teach you everything you need to know to be the Orba-ist you always dreamed of being. Whether you just unboxed your Orba 2 or have been jamming with Orba 1 for a while, there’s plenty to discover. Emma and Petey have put together a lovely demonstration to give you all of the cheat codes for our little space grapefruit. So, pop some popcorn, get in your la-z-boy, and let’s make some noise.
2. Getting Started
The doorbell rings… your heart races with anticipation. Could it be? Has your Orba finally arrived? You rush to the door, throw it open, and the little box on your doorstep gives you your answer. YES! As the delivery driver walks away, you yell, “Thank You!” They ignore you. But never mind that, you’ve just received your little space potato… or whatever. You grab it, rush inside, tear open the packaging voraciously, and hold Orba in your hands. Now what? What do you do with it? Well, you wouldn’t throw a turkey in the oven without buttering it up a bit, right? Lucky for you, Emma and Petey will show you how to give your Orba some TLC, take you to a party in a church in space, and get you up and running with methods such as… plugging Orba in. (P.S. Ignore the turkey analogy, Orbas are not oven-safe).
3. Anatomy of Orba
Remember anatomy class? We don’t. But we can definitely teach you about Orba’s layout. The drum bone’s connected to the bass bone. You know? Anyway, follow Emma on this epic journey where she’ll show you where to find everything on your Orba.
4. Changing Modes
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson… Just kidding. Emma teaches you how to play Orba using Orba’s Modes. Drum Mode? You betcha. Bass Mode? Of course? Chord Mode? Whodayathink we are? What about Lead Mode? Yassss. And you can use all of these modes together to unlock Orba’s secret mode… Depeche Mode. Just kidding! Orba’s modes are fun enough on their own.
5. Gestures
Shake it, shake, shake it, shake it like a polaroid picture! In this lesson, Emma shows you how to turn the key to Orba’s soul with Gestures, including Tap, Tilt, Bump, Radiate, and more.
6. Making a Loop
So you’ve learned the basics of Orba, and you’re feeling like a hot shot, but you’re not done yet. Emma and Petey have a surprise for you. Don’t worry, it’s nothing scary or gross. It’s just the most secret of secret Orba knowledge. But you’re going to have to watch the video to find out what it is.
7. Making a Song
Wait… Don’t go… We still have more super secret knowledge to share with you… Sure, you might know how to make a loop on Orba… But did you know that you can combine multiple loops on all of Orba’s modes to make a Song? That’s right, a whole song. Well, an Orba song. Anyway, in this lesson Emma and Petey will show you how to make a song on Orba.

The MOD Dwarf is a highly flexible audio and midi processing pedal. It is simple to use to set-up normal audio effects chains but a bit more thinking is involved adapting to the midi/cv system. I love that it is now fully open source with all system software free to view and contribute to. Mod Audio is currently working on a desktop version using the same software which will allow the best of both worlds, DAW integration and a portable live system.

Poor and volume sound from speakers
The speakers are so poor in capacity of sound quality and sound that I them on max just listen to the music. I going to have to buy new speakers
I am happy with Orba 3 I will have to up grade my laptop as what I have is to old. I had a concern with the battery warnings on the outside of the box but after contacting Koala Audio I am OK and I will make sure I will dispose of Orba 3 if I finish with it and I won’t allow it to get too hot in the sun.
