Redefine what's possible

The Discrete 8 Oryx brings our latest innovations into a powerful, affordable studio hub for producers, engineers, and bands. Built for multi-instrument recording and hybrid workflows, it combines pristine conversion and clocking, console-grade preamps, real-time FX processing, advanced headphone tools, and expansive routing — all in one rack unit.

Key Features

Conversion & Clocking

Class-leading AD/DA conversion with up to 130dB of headroom.

Recording, mixing and playback at up to 24-bit/192kHz.

Proprietary 64-bit AFC™ (Acoustically Focused Clocking) technology & Jitter. Management algorithm delivering increased sound width, separation, and detail.

Connectivity

8 × Discrete 6-transistor preamps with 75dB of gain for pristine recordings, with 48V phantom power. All work as microphone/line (DC-Coupled) and two are also Hi-Z inputs, on combo XLR jacks.

8 × DC-coupled line outputs over D-Sub 25

Two reamp outputs on TRS ¼ jacks for further amp processing of guitar signal. They can also be used as an additional stereo monitor output – this allows you to have two pairs of monitor speakers playing together simultaneously.

USB 2.0 type-C port with custom macOS & Windows drivers. Additional Class Compliant mode for macOS to work without an installed driver.

Digitally expandable over ADAT I/O, with up to 16 channels available.

Digitally expandable over S/PDIF I/O, with 2 channels available.

Three word clock outputs let you distribute the interface’s highly stable clock signal across your studio and a word clock input allows you to sync the Discrete 8 Oryx with other gear.

Footswitch input that can be used as a single footswitch (on 1/4” TS jack) to control the dim function and a dual footswitch to control both the talkback and dim functions.

Four stereo headphone outputs with separate gain control.

Dedicated stereo monitor output over TRS.

Workflow-enhancing features

Direct monitoring with Synergy Core effects, processed in real-time with imperceptible latency.

X-feed – Headphone crossfeed mode with calibration, mimicking the stereo sound stage of monitor speakers.

Customizable presets with signal routing, level adjustments, mixer and FX settings.

Customizable monitoring mixes with adjustable volume, pan and reverb.

Easily accessible front-panel talkback with built-in microphone.

Front panel with color display, navigation buttons for hands-on control of core parameters. Hardware relay-based gain knobs for each preamp, plus mode control (mic/line/Hi-Z) via push sequence.

Option to work without being connected to a computer (standalone operation).

Remote control of software features from a separate computer connected to the same network.

Real-time effects processing

Included 37 Synergy Core Real-Time FX modeled after classic and rare analog outboard gear.

Synergy Core proprietary onboard platform powered by 2 × DSP & 1 × FPGA chips for Real-Time FX processing with imperceptible latency.

Mic Modeling Engine allowing pairing with the Edge line of microphones for real-time use of vintage microphone emulations.

Experience every mix with uncompromising clarity

At the heart of the Discrete 8 Oryx are the latest AD/DA converters (up to 130dB headroom) and fourth-generation 64-bit AFC™ clocking. Together, they deliver wider stereo imaging, depth, and detail that go far beyond the specs of the converter chips alone. Careful implementation and decades of clocking expertise ensure a sound that stands out in both recording and playback, beloved by audio professionals worldwide.

Microphone preamps

Eight channels of clarity

The Discrete 8 Oryx features eight discrete Class-A microphone preamps, each crafted with six transistors and inspired by the circuitry of legendary recording consoles. The result is exceptional clarity, depth, and an ultra-low noise floor, along with an upgraded 75 dB of gain to accommodate even the most demanding microphones.

All eight inputs are DC-coupled and support both XLR and line-level TS/TRS connections, while the two front-panel inputs can also be switched to Hi-Z for direct instrument recording.

Connect everything.

Work without limits.

With 26×38 simultaneous connectivity — including 8 preamps, 8 DC-coupled line outs, ADAT, S/PDIF, reamp outs, monitor outs, and 4 headphone outs — the Discrete 8 Oryx serves as the centerpiece of any studio. Our intuitive virtual patch bay makes complex routing simple, letting you use every analog and digital channel at once for true hybrid flexibility.

Go one step further in your workflow

With a wide range of I/O options, the Discrete 8 Oryx easily adapts to any recording environment. These dedicated features are designed to enhance your workflow as your studio needs grow.

Word clock I/O
Keep your digital gear in perfect sync with three Word Clock outputs, taking advantage of our best clocking technology. The Word Clock input also allows the interface to operate as a slave, giving you greater flexibility in your clocking setup.

Reamp outputs
Send your clean guitar signal out of the interface and re-record it through your favorite amp or cabinet setup—no external reamp box required.

Talkback
Use any of the eight mic inputs or the built-in front-panel talkback mic to communicate directly through your monitor and headphone outputs.

Footswitch input
This input works with either a single footswitch (1/4” TS jack) to control the dim function, or a dual footswitch to manage both the talkback and dim controls simultaneously.

Virtual patch-bay

The ultimate control at your fingertips
A redesigned software control panel puts efficiency and flexibility at your fingertips, offering a sleek, intuitive layout that adapts to your workflow. Explore the quick drag-and-drop routing, simultaneous operation of all digital and analog ports, and direct low-latency monitoring with onboard effects. This software upgrade significantly streamlines operation and expands the creative control available within the Discrete 8 Oryx.
