Heil PR 40 Dynamic Broadcast Microphone

The Heil PR 40 is an end-address large diaphragm dynamic broadcast microphone, widely used for podcasting, radio and voice-over. It looks like a side-address condenser, but you speak into the top.

A large, low-mass aluminium voice coil gives an unusually wide 28 Hz to 18 kHz response for a dynamic, with natural voice reproduction. Four rear ports deliver -40 dB of rear rejection and keep proximity effect in check, while a hum-bucking coil and heavy steel body shield it from interference. Heil also lists it for kick drum, bass cabinet and horns.
