The loudness meter post, broadcast and podcast engineers deliver with. VisLM 3 is the latest version of NUGEN Audio's industry-standard loudness meter. It measures integrated, short-term and momentary loudness, loudness range (LRA), dialogue LRA and True Peak, and keeps a timecode-locked history of your whole programme so you can see exactly where a mix drifts out of spec, not just the final number.
Version 3 moves beyond the master bus. You can now watch the full mix, dialogue, music and effects stems together in one window, measure dialogue against the rest of the mix with the new LDR reading, leave timestamped notes on the history graph, and export a QC report for your deliverables.
What's new in VisLM 3
-
Stem monitoring – readings, history traces and loudness distributions from multiple VisLM instances (mix, dialogue, music, effects) in a single view
-
LDR (loudness-to-dialogue ratio) – measure dialogue against the full mix to meet emerging intelligibility and dialogue-clarity requirements
-
Notes tab – timestamped comments, flags and feedback directly on the history graph, powered by NUGEN's Jotter technology, easy to share with clients and collaborators
-
QC Report export – compliance documentation for each delivery
-
9.1.6 support for immersive and next-generation formats (up from 7.1.4 in VisLM 2)
-
Updated presets including ATSC A/85:2026-07 and EBU R128 Supplement 4
- Redesigned, clearer and more flexible interface
Core loudness workflow
-
ReMEM loudness memory – up to 24 hours of loudness data locked to your DAW or NLE timecode, saved with the session
-
Loudness overdub – play a fixed section back through VisLM and the integrated reading updates automatically, with no end-to-end re-measure
-
AudioSuite analysis in Pro Tools for faster-than-real-time measurement
-
True Peak metering that catches inter-sample peaks and flags violations on the timeline, so QC fixes take minutes, not a re-bounce
- Navigable flags and alerts, from detailed expert readouts to simple safe zones for less experienced operators
- Fully configurable for station-specific, legacy or in-house specifications
Loudness standards included
VisLM 3 ships with presets for the specs Australian and international clients ask for, including OP-59 (the Free TV Australia operational practice for broadcast loudness), ITU-R BS.1770 (revisions 1–4), EBU R128 including Supplement 4, ATSC A/85 (CALM Act) including A/85:2026-07, Netflix, Amazon Studios, Disney, Sony, Apple Podcasts, ARIB TR-B32, AGCOM 219/9/CSP, Portaria 354, DPP, plus Leq(m) (TASA and SAWA) and Leq(a).
Who it's for
Audio post and broadcast engineers delivering to TV networks and streamers, podcast producers hitting Apple Podcasts and platform targets, game audio teams, and music engineers who need consistent, measurable masters. If a deliverable comes back with a loudness rejection, it costs far more than the meter.
