About Grotrian

Founded in 1835 by Heinrich Steinweg in Seesen, Germany, Grotrian’s legacy continued when his son Theodore Steinweg partnered with Friedrich Grotrian in 1856. By collaborating with prominent pianists such as Clara Schumann, Franz Liszt, and Anton Rubinstein, Grotrian crafted pianos that pianists cherished and played intensively. Today, Grotrian grand pianos remain handmade in Germany, each taking eight months to produce, preserving the unique tone and love for music that defines the tradition.
